Gary Cokins

Gary Cokins is a globally recognized authority in enterprise and corporate performance management (EPM/CPM) and business analytics. As the founder of Analytics-Based Performance Management LLC, Gary helps organizations improve strategy execution, optimize business processes, and enhance performance through proven methodologies including applying data science analytics.

Gary’s academic foundation includes a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Cornell University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, both earned with honors. A sought-after speaker and author, Gary has written extensively on EPM and analytics, including his most recent books: Performance Management: Integrating Strategy Execution, Methodologies, Risk, and Analytics; Predictive Business Analytics; and Supply Chain Costing and Performance Management.

Something few people know about Gary is that he is in the Cooperstown NY Baseball Hall of Fame for the oldest computer baseball game. It resulted from his 1970 junior year project in a “Game Theory” course in the Cornell University School of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering (ORIE). It was to develop a computer baseball game program. The computer program was based on when he was a kid playing a two dice baseball game that he had made up. For the course software program project, he replaced the two dice with a “random number generator” computer programming command.
